Wrap It Up: 4 Common Uses for Stretch Wrap

Many companies use stretch wrap for protection and convenience when transporting goods or products from one place to another. It’s also a very cost-efficient and effective way to enable safe transport of these items reliably. It’s a method that is used all over the world.

There are different types of stretch wrap as well as different widths and thickness. Some are obviously better than others and it would be better to go with a strong, reliable stretch wrap when wrapping products so as to avoid accidents. Here are some things that use stretch wrap.

1. Corrugated Boxes

We’ve all seen pallets of corrugated boxes wrapped in stretch wrap. When products in bulk are delivered to big supermarkets and grocery stores, you can see them being delivered at the back where their shipping and receiving takes place. Many of these products are packed into boxes, placed on pallets and then wrapped securely for delivery. You need to pick the right film for the job; this depends on various factors, including the height and weight.

2. Barrels

Barrels can be used to fill a variety of products including grains, chemicals and liquids. A few barrels may be loaded onto a pallet. These are incredibly heavy and due to the possibility of accidents involving liquids and chemicals, they are usually wrapped in thick, premium film.

3. Furniture

Because furniture tends to be a bit larger, they’re not really loaded onto a pallet. Instead, they are individually wrapped and sent to the retailer from the manufacturer. The film used is mainly to protect the outside of the furniture. Normally, pre-stretched film is used for this purpose and is a more affordable option.

4. Cans & Bottles

Bottles and cans (water, pop) are very high-volume items and are constantly being shipped to retailers all over the world. Cases are stacked one on top of the other on pallets and wrapped securely so that they don’t slip off and break and cause a sticky mess. Most of these drinks come in a case that’s protected by plastic anyway, so there are no sharp edges to cut through anything, so they stay relatively secure. A high performance resin stretch film is generally used instead of a premium quality film. This is not only cost-effective but it also does not compromise the security of the load.

Stretch wrapping offers superior, cost-effective protection. They can also play a part in reducing theft. It can be difficult to get to something at the bottom when it’s wrapped securely. It’s also recyclable. By using a better quality of stretch wrap, you can avoid the huge cost of damaged loads. That pretty much wraps things up.
